Cebu’s Creative Tribe Series: Hannah Bacalla

When a woman shows a page of her journal to you, it’s quiet boldness, as unintentionally carnal as catching sight of her nape. For Cebu’s Creative Tribe (CCT) Series, photographer Hannah Bacalla lets us become privy to her lovely mind, and how, through her lens, each day can never be just ordinary.
A dreamer, and dream shaper, there is tenderness, and sincerity in Hannah’s work. Every image clasps its hands with yours, and whispers that there is beauty in the unconventional, in what ifs. You yearn to enter Hannah’s world, and stay there.
Thank you for playing make believe with Brave The Waves, and letting me feature you in CCT, Hannah!

1. What made you fall in love with photography?
It enables me to create different worlds. I have always been a dreamer and it was always the fantasy that interested me in photography.

I always try to create work that satisfies my creative drive. You get the
best results and the best feeling when you photograph what you love. Always
be passionate, nothing is worse than working with someone who is half-hearted.

Travel, music, movies, nature and spending time with my family and friends.

the city that you’re from?
Cebu is one of those cities that has a laid-back, easy going atmosphere. I
am an island girl at heart so being close to nature made a major influence
on my work.

Growing up in a tiny island with limited resources made me more
resourceful and more creative in approaching an idea and in doing shoots.
